The importance of clean energy can’t be overstated, but it isn’t like flipping a switch. A big part of Chanel’s initiative is making solar power available and affordable to everyone. While monthly energy bills are lower with solar, the initial cost of installing the solar system is significant; depending on the size of your home, it can be in the thousands. “Chanel strives for [excellence] in everything we create, the impact we have on our society, and our world at large,” Chanel’s president and chief operating officer, John Galantic, wrote in a release. “This innovative partnership reflects the deep commitment of our house to reduce our impact on the environment, while also creating a positive social impact through an inclusive approach that will provide families with access to clean affordable power and the creation of jobs.”

The film follows the 2018 release of RBG, a surprising box-office success and a 2019 Oscar nominee for best documentary, as well as On the Basis of Sex, a 2018 biopic about Ginsburg starring Felicity Jones as the young would-be justice. The studios behind both films recently announced they would be rereleased in both theaters and on streaming platforms to honor the late justice, with proceeds donated to the ACLU Women’s Right Project, which was cofounded by Ginsburg in 1992. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film is now being screened digitally to potential buyers “with the aim of striking a deal that would have it released prior to the U.S. presidential election in November.” A work-in-progress version of the film was screened at the 2019 AFI Docs film festival.
